Reception GLD
GLD is a performance measure for EFS pupils. Children are defined as having reached a good level of development at the end of the EYFS if they have achieved at least the expected level in:
- Early learning goals in the prime areas of leaning (personal, social and emotional development, physical development and communication and language)
- Early learning goals in specific areas of mathematics and literacy

Year 1 Phonics
In year 1, all pupils take part in the statutory Phonics Screening test. This assesses the phonic understanding of pupils and their ability to decode words. Children who do not reach the appropriate standard are given targeted support in Year 2 and retests at the end of that year.

Year 2 End of Key Stage 1 assessments
Year 2 pupils sit the KS1 SATs (Statutory Assessment Test) in reading and maths. Writing is assessed by our teachers.
The tests are designed to assess progress and attainment of pupils to determine whether they are working at the expected standard for their age (ARE).
