PE & Sport Premium

PE & Sport Funding

PE & Sport Premium funding is being provided by the government again in the 2022-2023 academic year. This premium must be used to fund additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport, for the benefit of primary-aged pupils, to encourage the development of healthy lifestyles.

The funding will be given directly to Primary Schools or Academies to improve the quality of PE and Sport for all children. However, we have the freedom to choose how we do this.

Vision

At Seathorne, Primary Academy we use Sports Premium funding to ensure there is a well-established and thriving sports programme. This money is used to further enhance the quality and range of experiences pupils receive. We also use this money to improve professional development and confidence amongst staff in the delivery of high-quality PE lessons across the school. We believe that this has a long-lasting and positive effect on the future learning and physical development of children within our school.

Our curriculum will provide high-quality physical education which inspires ALL pupils, regardless of ability, to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their physical health and fitness. Additionally, it is our belief that the physical, mental and social benefits that come from an extensive PE provision helps our pupils to develop Seathorne’s values and skills. These can be transferable to all elements of school life and beyond in the wider community.

Our PE curriculum aims focus around these 4 words:

  • Competitive - engage in competitive sports and activities
  • Healthy – become physically and mentally healthy
  • Active – be physically active for sustained periods of time
  • Team – understand how to work as a team
